Single Stop is a free “one stop shop” for legal, financial and other needs. Single Stop provides, confidential and unbiased one-on-one advice, including:
Benefits Screening
Single Stop counselors determine which public benefits a family is eligible for and help them apply for those benefits.
On-site Referrals to Family Counseling
Social workers help families cope with domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health care and other difficult issues.
Tax Assistance
During the tax season (January through April 15th), Single Stop helps community members determine if they are eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and, if so, direct them to free tax-preparation sites with partner organizations in the community. Many Single Stop clients are eligible to receive an EITC of up to $5,000.
Financial Counseling
Single Stop provides financial advice, helps clients to obtain their credit score and to repair damaged credit. On-site financial counselors help families to address debt issues and improve budget management skills. Single Stop helps families develop a plan that allows them to meet their needs.
Legal Assistance
On-site lawyers help families handle legal problems, such as eviction notices, domestic violence, custody disputes, and other legal issues.
