This July, 32 Groundwork for Success scholars will head to North Carolina for a two-week summer immersion program at Bennett College . The program is designed to provide college-bound rising juniors and seniors an exciting glimpse at the academic and residential life on Bennett’s campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. The scholars will explore topics with professors who are the leading experts in their fields.
The classes are structured to help the high school students with college-level courses and to increase each student’s academic preparedness for college. The group will be housed in a suite-style dormitory on campus and participate in a variety of programs, activities, and excursions including a trip to the International Civil Rights Museum and a weekend trip to Charlotte.
Follow the Bennett College Experience on Facebook and Twitter (#gwbennett). We’ll be doing daily blogs, twitter and video updates throughout the trip.

2011 Commencement Ceremony |

Written by Malika Reid

Groundwork honored each of the 36 seniors scholars last
night during the 2011 Commencement Ceremony held at Brooklyn College. Noted
cultural critic Michaela Angela Davis gave a “sugar-free talk” offering an
inspiring message to our students about taking full advantage of the
opportunities college will afford them. She challenged them to complete the
American credo by pursuing happiness.
We are thrilled to announce that more than $20,000 in scholarships
were awarded to seven deserving scholars.
